Who'll collect your back taxes now?

"Now, the IRS is preparing to assign late next year $13 billion in owed taxes to private companies for collection."

So you just gotta wonder if these private collection companies have to obey the Do Not Call list.

No, I didn't think so either.

I work for the IRS and we are not anymore happy about this change than the Taxpayers. Not only will they have carte blanche to call when they like, the Do Not Call List is only for telemarketers, the last time the governement tried this, there were blatant cases of Taxpayer harassment. Also, with identity theft on the rise, do you really want non-federal companies to have access to your private social security and financial information? We are sworn in as gov't workers, they will not be. Write your congressmen!

Sounds like there's at least one person of character working at the IRS. Thanks for the comment - even though it makes the news all the more scary.
